New research sponsored by the University of Minnesota Tourism Center reveals that, for the third year in a row, nearly all Minnesotan’s understand the importance of tourism to the state’s economy. In Minnesota, tourism generates $10.5 billion dollars in gross receipts/sales and employs more than 244,000.

The majority (60 percent) of residents feel tourism is “very important,” and 96 percent indicate that tourism is “very important” or “important,” to the economy. In its third year, University assessment of statewide attitudes toward tourism will continue annually. See www.tourism.umn.edu for more research information.
